Sometimes to get the best fit with your car seat you need a Gated Buckle. The gated buckle locks the load bearing lap part of the seatbelt to the sash nice and tight so you don’t get the wobbles or “loosening creep”, especially in European cars. To fit the buckle measure your seatbelt for fit by plugging it in through seat and pulling tight. Not all car middle seats are the same. Just because there’s a seatbelt there, doesn’t mean you can get a good safe fit for a restraint, or that 3 seats may not fit across. Check the width and hump of the middle seat and the total USABLE width of the row to make sure you can future proof your vehicle purchase. Save the front seat until they're 13. Why? 1. Research shows kids under the height of 145cm for which adult seatbelts are made are 3 times more likely to incur head and other severe injuries. 2. Because children under 13 tend to be smaller & sit lower, airbags don't deploy in a useful manner for them and are far less helpful - even dangerous. 3. Research shows that injury is twice as likely to occur in the front passenger seat than rear seats even without restraints being used in the back.4. They try to control the stereo. Enough said.
